A message from Franck Bohbot

Los Angeles gave me more than just a chapter of my life—it gave me a body of work and a profound shift in perspective. My journey with California began in 2014 when my wife and I explored its iconic movie theaters, producing the Cinemaseries. Traveling across the state, from north to south, we uncovered the monumental architecture and stories hidden within these darkened halls. At the time, I was deeply rooted in New York City, enamored with its energy. But stepping into LA was a cultural shock—a sprawling, vibrant city unlike any other, where nature, ocean, mountains, desert, and urban life collide.

In 2017, I returned to LA to create the Angels series, capturing street moments bathed in daylight, framed by the city's iconic blue skies. I wanted a fresh, pictorial quality—a tribute to the diverse stories and characters I encountered. LA is a city of extremes, where dreams can lead to unparalleled success or disillusionment, its streets a canvas of hope and heartbreak. Despite its contradictions, it remains a haven for creators, dreamers, and innovators.

Today, I reflect on the tragedy unfolding in LA—the devastating fires that have ravaged parts of the city. It’s a heartbreaking reminder of the fragility of life here, where natural forces can dramatically alter the course of people’s lives. As someone who has called this city home, I feel a deep responsibility to help those affected by these fires. By donating my prints for sale, I hope to provide some support during this incredibly difficult time, offering a small way to give back to the community that has given me so much.
